The 13 year old student keeps the foundation of a company, with the target of Rs 100 crore turnovers

Can a school going boy be the founder of a business startup? Can he be the owner of a company which holds control over 400 employees? How can a class VIII student carry away with his studies and the company altogether?

This seems to be unrealistic and impossible. But a 13-year-old student has made it possible and has become one of the youngest entrepreneurs of India. Tilak Mehta from Mumbai is such a prodigy who has founded a technology-driven courier company namely Papers N Parcels (PNP).

He not only convinced a banker to quit his job and accept the CEO post of PNP but also succeeded to include employees of Dabbawalas in his company.

The technology-based company functions through an app with the same name. Customers have to first register on the app, and after login, they can book the order.

The company delivers the items on the same day. It charges only from Rs 80 to 140 according to the weight of the item. It accepts the item up to 3 kilograms. So the fast delivery and cheaper cost have made the company a big success.

The story behind this innovative idea is interesting. One day Tilak Mehta left his school book in his uncle’s home that was at the other end of the city and he needed it urgently.

However, he couldn’t manage to get it back and when he enquired about the courier service, he came to know that he would have to pay nearly Rs 250/- which was itself the price of the book.

It struck to his mind that there must be a courier service in the city which could be in the budget of common people. One day he saw a person of Dabbawala, the famous food delivery network of Mumbai. Tilak Mehta got another idea that with the collaboration of Dabbawalas, the courier service could be managed properly.

Tilak Mehta talked about the idea with his father who got convinced. Thereafter, he discussed with his uncle who was a banker.

His father helped him develop the app. His uncle quit the bank job and became the CEO of the company. Several employees of Dabbawalas also agreed to work with the company. After the hard work and research of 8 months, his business started in 2018.

Papers N Parcels delivers 1200 items everyday and till date, it has delivered more than one lakh items. Presently, pathology labs, boutique shops and brokerages are availing the services of the company.

Today, Papers N Parcels employs 300 persons of Dabbawala and 100 of its own. Tilak Mehta has the dream of making the company with a turnover of Rs 100 crore by 2020 and expanding the services all over India.

For his prodigious entrepreneurship, he has been awarded India Maritime Awards in July 2018.

This dynamic child has infinite possibilities inside him. There may be many more Tilaks in our country. It is the responsibility of our society to explore such ingenious children.

Tilak Mehta is an inspiration for students. We wish this young entrepreneur a brilliant future.

Jharkhand cadre IAS

Jharkhand cadre IAS glorifies the country by scoring 104.44% marks

Dr Rajendra Prasad, the first President of India, was so talented at the study that he got this exceptional remark on the answer paper of the graduate exam-“Examinee is better than examiner”. Even today, these few words work as inspiration for students. Now, another name has been added to this context. An IAS officer from Jharkhand cadre has glorified the country in a similar way.

Manish Ranjan, the Additional Chief Electoral Officer of Jharkhand has scored 104.44% marks in a course on Public Affairs in the University of California, Berkeley, USA.  In this great achievement, he has got 107.5 points out of 100 in the International Statistical Course.

The marks have been given by a globally-acclaimed Professor namely Rucker C. Johnson.  He is one of the consultants of the American President Donald Trump.  He has written several books including Children of the Dream: Why School Integration Works.

The IAS Association run by the serving members of Indian Administrative Service has also congratulated this feat of Manish Ranjan.

Manish Ranjan attained the fourth position in the UPSC examination of the year 2002. He served as a Deputy Commissioner in Hazaribagh, Pakur, Deoghar, Garhwa and Latehar districts.  He also held key positions at Industry, Health, Labour and tourism departments of Jharkhand Government.

Manish Ranjan as Mission Director, National Health Mission, graced the first eJharkhand Summit held in 2014.  He started a program called ‘Save Childhood’ which was later adopted by the Central Government.  He played an important role in bringing infant mortality from 38 to 29 per cent between 2011 and 2013.

The extraordinary achievement made by Manish Ranjan is really a matter of pride for the country.  He would always be a source of inspiration for the students’ community.

Telangana MP G Kishan Reddy

Telangana MP accepts books for the celebration of his electoral victory

India is changing.  Indian people are coming up with innovative ways to do something.  In this context, G Kishan Reddy, an MP from Telangana has set an example.

Kishan Reddy has won the Lok Sabha election 2019 from Secunderabad constituency.  On his victory, he requested his supporters to congratulate him with books instead of garlands or sweets.

On his appeal, a large number of party workers and volunteers visited his office and donated notebooks and storybooks.  Very soon, his office turned into the storeroom with the bundle of books.  These books will be distributed among economically disadvantaged students.

Generally, party workers celebrate the victory of their leader with great pomp and show.  They offer garland, shawl, sweets and bouquets.  However, these gifts are of little use.  There is also the wastage of money.

So, Kishan’s initiative has a great message for the country.   With such plans, the celebration becomes useful and significant.  A good message goes to citizens and it cultivates high morale among countrymen.

Gifts like garlands and bouquets are in no way helpful for anyone, but rather they cause pollution.  So leaders of our country should refuse such gifts.  They, instead, should urge their supporters to bring gifts that may be utilized for needy persons.

plant trees

Plant trees before getting a graduation degree

Deforestation has become a worldwide problem.  “Save tree-Save earth” has become a global slogan.  We cannot imagine life without trees.

Despite knowing the importance of trees, we are cutting down them.  No proper efforts are made for plantation of trees.  Considering this crisis, a Southeast Asian country has come up with a superb plan.

This country is the Philippines.  Its government has proposed a new bill called-“Graduation Legacy for the Environment Act”.  This act makes mandatory for elementary, high school and college-level students to plant at least 10 trees before graduating.

The government agencies will ensure the compliance of the act.  They will look after nursery establishment, seedling production, site preparation and evaluation of the work.

Students will plant trees on forest areas, civil and military reservations, rural and urban areas, inactive mining sites and other suitable places.  The selection of trees will be according to the climate, location and topography of the areas.

Preference will be given to indigenous species of trees.  Philippine is the country where only 20% of trees are left.  Nearly 175 million new trees will be planted every year if the initiative properly implemented.

So the Philipino government’s proposal is really inspiring.  This will create awareness among students to plant more and more trees.

If we talk about our country, we may be proud that India is among the top ten countries in the world with the most forest area.  However, the forest area in India is only 24% which may decrease in the coming years.

So, we can learn from the Philipino government and bring the suchlike proposal in the parliament to save trees before they come in an alarming situation.

Saalumarada Thimmakka

Padma Awards got blessed by ‘Mother of Trees’

While receiving the Padma Shri Award, Saalumarada Thimmakka, known as ‘Vriksha Mate’ blessed the Indian President by gently putting her palm on his head. The moment was so heartening that Rashtrapati Bhawan got echoed with thunderous applause.

The strict protocol even got weakened before this mahanayika when Honourable the President bowed his head to receive the blessing.

This is our great culture, our glorious tradition where a person sitting on the highest position is humble before Mother’s Love!

The life of S. Thimmakka from Karnataka is full of determination and perseverance.  It gives us the motivation to live and move forward even though we don’t get what we want.

Unable to bear a child, she found solace in planting trees with the support of her husband.

The couple worked hard in the fields to plant trees and cared for them. Sometimes, they had to walk for 4 kilometres to bring water for plantation.

106-year-old Thimmakka has been planting since the age of 40 years. She has planted 385 banyan and 8000 other trees.  Her husband passed away in 1991.

She has also got Karnataka Rajyotsava Award from the state government and National Citizen Award from the government of India.  Her selfless work has inspired several people to take up the initiative to save the environment.

However, this is saddening to hear that she receives only Rs. 500/- for her old age pension.

A great environmentalist should not be treated like this.  The government should take some steps so that she may live a respectful life having no financial crisis.
